Family experiences in Marbella
Quite naturally, a large proportion of the people who visit Marbella are families with children of all ages. They are attracted to this region for a whole range of reasons, not least of which are the many leisure activities available for children and family groups.
The seaside is the first port of call for many, from languid days spent on the beach to boating excursions, jet skiing, surfing or sailing lessons. Water features strongly on the wish list of especially smaller children, and it forms the basis for many family holiday activities, including visits to the aqua park in Fuengirola-Mijas, or simply relaxing by the pool. But of course this is just one aspect of what makes the Costa del Sol so attractive.
The climate makes a host of other activities possible throughout the year, opening up a whole variety of exciting possibilities. During the summer months, the refreshing coolness of water is a central focus, but sports such as golf, (paddle) tennis and summer football camps also rank highly, as do horse riding, hiking, mountain biking, 4×4 safari excursions into the beautiful countryside surrounding Marbella, outdoor picnics, balloon rides and buggy rides.
To this can be added extreme sports, mountaineering and from November to April also snowboarding and skiing in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, just over two hours from Marbella. The lakes and the coastal caves around Nerja, just east of Málaga are also suited to kayaking, and within a half-hour range of Marbella you’ll also find a safari park, eco zoo and anadventure tree park designed especially for the kids.
